As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve added the NaNoWriMo block to the right hand side of the page. You may click there (or the link in the previous sentence) to check out my novel progress. The challenge lasts throughout the month of November and I’m very excited to be taking part in it this year! If you notice I’m not online as much as usual, just imagine me sitting here all caffeinated with bloodshot eyes and bandaids on my poor aching fingers 50,000 words in one month is about 1660 words per day on average. (about three typed pages)

Oh yeah. Patrick’s first day of work yesterday went GREAT! They made sure all their paperwork was in order, briefly looked over a few things and looked into benefits

It’s been 9 days since my last blog post and it feels like a month has passed! So here’s what’s been going on for the past 9 days.

We’ve been staying up way too late and sleeping in way too late I’ve still been working and the kids finished their achievement tests but other than that, we’ve been relaxing and enjoying doing as little as possible! We bought the kids the Rock Band Track Pack for PS2 yesterday. Guess we felt guilty for going out to dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant without them (ok no, not really lol)

Patrick’s new job starts on October 31! He should be getting his VOIP phone and headset some time this week or early next week. We’re still looking for a table or desk for his little corner office space in the bedroom. He even has a window now! LOL! We have a desk in there, but it’s very small and doesn’t accommodate 2 monitors. The job requires 2 monitors.

While we were out yesterday I mailed the kids’ achievement tests back to FLO (Family Learning Organization) to be scored. I can’t wait to get their results back. I’m sure they both did really well, but I always get anxious after mailing them out. I start thinking things like “what if they marked the wrong area with the wrong test questions” or “what if they just rushed through it trying to beat the timer?” They understand the importance of testing but they ARE still kids! lol

Hayleigh isn’t limping like she was before. Not until I get her down and look at her foot that is. If I look at it, she remembers that it’s supposed to hurt and she’ll limp until I grab a toy and start playing with her… then she’s fine! Her ear is clearing up and looking a lot better now too. Poor thing, I think she may have had a little bit of a skin infection in her right ear. Probably due to me getting water in it when I gave her a bath. Those little floppy ears are cute as they can be, but really easily infected if they stay damp too long. I’ve been cleaning them with R7 every day and she’s been laying down with that ear open lately, hopefully that will dry it out really well

It’s almost November!! You may have noticed the newest banner on my blog – NaNoWriMo! We’ve decided to take the entire month off of WoW to write. Not the kids, just Patrick and me. He has the ideas but claims he can’t write them down so I’ll be doing the writing while he’s doing the thinking

Monday was busy! Just to add to it, Patrick sent me an IM saying someone had hit the Durango. UGH. We’ve had it 8 years and it’s now had its first accident. He wasn’t in it, but in the Walmart parking lot, a bus driver tried to turn her bus between vehicles. He said she ran completely over the little car beside him. It did about $1600 in damage to our Durango. Busted out the right front light and scraped/dented the fender pretty bad. Figures – he’s changing jobs next week and the last week he goes out to enjoy lunch with Art at the Mexican place and the Durango gets hit

Speaking of changing jobs! Yes you read that right, he’s changing jobs next week!! We’re so excited He’ll be working from home, making about what he’s making now – plus benefits! He actually has 3 job options right now and has to make the decision by the 15th. Either way he’ll be working closer to or from home.

This week started out so great Patrick was able to work out of the Norton office Monday and Tuesday. It was so great to have him come home both evenings. He left yesterday morning to go to Lebanon to work though. He won’t be home till tomorrow evening. Things may be changing pretty quickly here though.

Patrick talked to a guy who’s a Director of Support for Telvisio. Telvisio is a company that hires home-based tech support representatives to help people with problems they’re having with computers and other electronic equipment. It’s a remote help desk position that deals with much more than computers. He would be answering phone calls from home and helping people fix things, a lot like what he does now. Except for the whole “from home” part

Yesterday Hayleigh developed a definite limp in her left front leg. Of course I got in the floor with her and felt her joints, bones and muscles all the way from her shoulder to her toenails; nothing odd and pressure didn’t cause her to flinch. I have no idea what’s causing the limp. She has been a little more clumsy lately though. She fell earlier in the week so that may have bruised something. Then again she stepped on something sharp in the yard over the weekend so that may be a little painful right now too. She had a tiny fever last night but acts like she feels fine this morning. She’s a little disappointed that she can’t jump up on the futon but I put one of the pillows in the floor for her, so she’s snuggled up on it.

Yesterday was Brittany’s birthday. I now, officially, have a 15 year old daughter. It seems crazy to think that in a year she’ll have her license. She’s not asking to drive yet, she says the thought is intimidating. I don’t know if it’s because of the size of the Durango or if she’s just worried about whether she’ll do everything just right. The first time she drove it through a parking lot, she parked it perfectly between the lines when she was finished.

I finally cut Jeff’s hair yesterday. It got so long this time that even he was complaining about it lol. Every time I told him to go take a shower so we could cut his hair, he’d end up getting into something else, so I didn’t push the issue. I also took that opportunity to explain time management and priorities

We’re still on the lookout for a work-at-home job for Patrick. He’s driven to work from home every day this week because of Brittany’s birthday yesterday. All she wanted for her birthday was pizza and for dad to be home. They really miss having him home through the week.
