As I sit here looking at my bowl of half burned popcorn… what? I happen to like some foods a little burned. Anyway… As I sit here munching my popcorn, I’m wondering what to write about myself. So I’ll just start with my random thoughts
How do you like the new color scheme for my blog? I figure as many times as I’ve sloshed my coffee onto my desk I may as well have stains to prove it!
I’m 33 years old. I have a teenage daughter. Yeah, scary thought isn’t it! I’m new at this whole “being mom to a teenager” thing, always wondering if I’m doing the right thing and second guessing myself, kwim? I guess all parents second-guess their decisions though, right? I also have a 12 year old son who’s continually good for a laugh! I could probably do a blog post every single day just with the funny stuff this hobbit does. I got really lucky though and got two beautiful kids with great personalities. They’re so respectful that sometimes they even amaze me. Yeah I know, I’m probably biased
I’m married to the love of my life. I got lucky there too. At least I think I did
Besides having salt & pepper hair and icy blue eyes that still melt me with a glance, he’s absolutely my best friend in the world. We met in high school, but didn’t date till he was out of school and I was a senior. That’s obviously the short version. We married the December after I graduated high school. I was 18, he was 19. I have to brag for a second here; I married into the best family in the world! I love every one of my in-laws to death and enjoy every minute of their company.
Back to my hubby: He’s into technology (computers and other electronics). He works for Support Soft now, a home-based tech support company. He knew we didn’t stand much of a chance in the underdeveloped county we grew up in, so he joined the USAF. He left for basic training 7 days after we got married. Our first duty station was Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska.
Our daughter, was born in Alaska on Elmendorf AFB in 1993. We brought her home in late September, 1993 and got our first snow that day! We were amazed to see it snowing and laying on in September! After Alaska we decided to give Florida a shot. We went to stay with my aunt until we got a place of our own.
So yeah, looking back at that decision… moving from Alaska to Florida…
Anyway that wasn’t the best idea after all, things didn’t work out for several reasons so we moved back to Virginia. We’ve lived in Southwest Virginia most of the time, but we did move to the DC Metro area for about 5 years. During that time we went through a lot of growth as a family and as a couple. We went through some hard times, as all couples do, and we went through some amazingly wonderful times.
My blog is something I enjoy doing in my free time. I love sharing life experiences with others.. especially the funny ones!
