I hate telling my kids “I’m sorry I don’t have time for that right now.” My son is notorious for “hey mom, come watch this youtube video” or something else that I just “don’t have time for” when I’m working. I usually tell him to bookmark it and show me later.
One day I went to his room to wake him up and he bolted up out of his bed and said, “OMG was that a DREAM?!” He starts rattling off the dream in such amazing detail that I told him he should write it down and build on it as he can. So he literally runs past me, turns his PC on and opens up notepad.
That was two weeks ago. Since then he’s written about several other dreams and even tried his hand at songs. This morning he’s been typing for almost an hour! I can’t wait to read it
I’ll share some of his stuff on here from time to time.
Maybe I can get him into NaNoWriMo this November, whatcha think?

Like mother, like son.
Hey, speaking of fictional writing, did you ever finish that book you were working on?
No, it’s at just over 50 pages (at 8.5 x 11) I just don’t have the time to dedicate to it most of the time so it’s become more of a side project until I get some work stuff straightened out.
What does he have to type on? We are thinking of getting Tayten a notebook for Xmas (Acer, $389 from Wal-Mart but not sure) – check out my forum on my new Allison Wonderland website for more details. Just curious.
I think it’s great to see kids using their imagination & “simple stuff” as opposed to being glued in front of a tv/gaming system nonstop. Just my two cents! BTW – I FINALLY remembered my password LOL!
They both have their own computers. All 5 PCs are in the living room where we all read/watch/play/study.
