I don’t usually participate in questionnaires but I liked some of the questions in this one. So love it or hate it, blame Rachael
1. What is your current obsession? Writing. Patrick asks all the time how I can get up, start writing and not be tired of it by the time I go to bed. Some days are harder than others, but I love learning new things and writing articles that aid in the overall success of my clients.
2. What is your weirdest obsession? The way towels and wash cloths are folded. The storage area in the kids’ bathroom is smaller than the huge closet in my bathroom so I have two ways I fold towels. (Smaller folds for the kids’ bathroom and bigger for mine, obviously.) Other people who live here can fold the more complex fold easier than they can the big fold. Very odd.
3. Recall a fond childhood memory? I have a lot of fond memories from my childhood because I have the “most awesomest” mom in the whole world. A memory that seems to stay in my mind almost all the time is from very early childhood: It’s me, mom and my dad (who passed when I was two). We’re way high on or near the top of a mountain. The view is absolutely amazing. Mountain ridges and valleys as far as the eye can see, and when the sun set everything seemed to be ablaze with varying shades of orange and red. I know not many people really remember things from that early in their childhood, but I confirmed the memory with mom a year or so ago.
4. What’s for dinner? Whatever they put in the microwave I guess
Before you go all thinking I’m a bad mom and stuff, my kids are 15 (picky vegetarian daughter) and 12 (will eat anything you put in front of him son). They each know how to cook and prefer to make their own food. If they want something complex that they don’t know how to make, they ask me. Otherwise, they make what they want when they want it.
5. What would you eat for your last meal? Pasta from Maggianos!
6. What’s the last thing you bought? Groceries. But the last fun thing I bought were tickets to the Nickelback concert
(The last cool thing Patrick bought me is a new monitor! It’s out for delivery via UPS today!!)
7. What are you listening to right now? Listening to game sounds coming from Patrick’s computer as he plays 2Moons, a free to play multi-player game and his manager on speakerphone for the team meeting.
8. What do you think of the person who tagged you? I just met Rachael a little over a month ago through our mutual friend Chris. I adored her from the start as a friend and as a partner in crime.. err… work… she’s absolutely amazing.
9.If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished, anywhere in the world, where would it be? Oh man. Tough question. Our family is in southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee so more than likely near there. If I could move all of the family with me, my dream home would be in Alaska! Anchorage is an amazing city but I’d love to live in Girdwood or Eagle River. Just close enough to the city but far enough away to be “away”.
10.If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? To meet Zig Ziglar in person. He’s my favorite motivational speaker.
11. Which language do you want to learn? Italian.
12. What’s your favorite quote (for now)? ” If you really want to succeed, you’ll have to go for it every day like I do. The big time isn’t for slackers. Keep up your mental stamina and remain curious. I think that bored people are unintelligent people.” Donald Trump
13.What is your favorite color? Green. I love almost all shades of green.
14. What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe? My olive green shirt with gold threads in it. It hides my belly no matter which jeans I wear
15. What is your dream job? Writer/Editor. Hey, that’s what I do!
16.What’s your favorite magazine? I don’t read magazines. And I just realized how ridiculous that sounds. A writer who loves to read, but doesn’t read magazines…
17. If you had $100 now, what would you spend it on? New shoes, a purse (my two weaknesses) and a hair color (I do my own).
18. Describe your personal style? Comfortable but stylish.
19. What are you going to do after this? Edit the 11 articles sitting in my inbox and write a few more. Probably finish out the day by playing 2Moons with the family.
20.What are your favorite films? A Beautiful Mind, Mystic Pizza.. anything with Julia Ormond or Angelina Jolie, they’re my favorite actresses aside from Vivian Leigh. I’m an old movie freak.
21. What’s your favorite fruit? Don’t make me choose! OK, fine. Strawberries. No, peaches. No, pineapple. No, cantaloupe. No wait… OK, strawberries!
22.What inspires you? Knowing that the Internet offers such a multitude of opportunities; not only for my business and lifestyle but for my kids’ future. Jeff wants to go into game design and Brittany loves graphic design.
23. Your favorite books? All these difficult questions! I didn’t know I’d wake up to a pop quiz, thanks Rachael!
I like anything from smutty romance novels to historical, motivational and educational reading. One of my favorite series is Janelle Taylor’s Ecstasy series. It follows the fictional lives of Grey Eagle and his white captive love Shalee but is loaded with historical facts about the Oglala Indians. A Rose in Winter is a great book. Angels in the Outfield. Why We Want You to be Rich (Trump and Kiyosaki)… I could keep going.
24. Do you collect anything? Books and carousel horses. I don’t consider purses and shoes collectibles because they’re useful
25. Any advice that’s some from bitter experience? Don’t judge. It isn’t our place. Something my aunt Jan told me years ago, “People will talk no matter what you do. Let them.” (in a nutshell
)
26. What makes you follow a blog? I don’t actively follow many bloggers. I enjoy reading real life stories though. I read Chris’s blog to keep up with what her family is into because we’ve been friends online for 3 years…4..? ; Jill’s because I agree with her points of view on nearly everything; Rachael’s because it’s always good for a giggle or a deep thought; Tiffany’s because she’s pregnant with her third child and a new stay home mom… just to name a few
Now the “rules” to this little game included tagging 4 people to see if they would play along. Here are my four:
OK there are my 3
