Ok.. some of you know I’ve been having computer issues lately. For several weeks I had to use a new one we’d originally bought Brittany so we could get an RMA replacement for my motherboard that had blown several capacitors. We’d bought a new power supply too, just in case it was the PSU that caused the issues, right? So we got everything in and put together and were sitting here the other night and hear “POP!” it came from the general vicinity of my pc. UGH… blown capacitor.
The replacement (RMA for the RMA lol) came in today. Patrick took the pc apart, took the motherboard out, put the new one in, flipped on the power and the pc went… *silence* did you hear that? Yeah we didn’t either. We wanted to hear a *beep* and the pc boot up obviously! So he messes with a few things and tries again *silence*
He’s at a loss so he calls EVGA to talk to them about it. Evidently that’s just a bad motherboard. Just my luck isn’t it? The RMA replacement to my RMA replacement is bad. So… they’ll be sending me a new one lol. Hopefully the next replacement will be better than this one
Patrick puts my pc back together using the old motherboard… yes the one with the blown capacitor. I have to have something to work on other than the laptop! *shudder*
Anyway, he puts my pc all back together, flips on the power and we hear *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* OH NO! The dreaded memory beep!! You know when your pc turns on and you hear the *beep* that says “hey your memory checked out fine, I’ll finish booting up now.” Nope… not that one. The big, long *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* that says “sorry, your memory does not pass memory check, try again!”
Lucky for us, he’d just forgotten to put the memory back in
He put the memory back in and viola! I’m back! (and have something goofy to blog about lol)
