Sixteen years ago today Patrick and I said our vows. At least that’s the answer that keeps coming up when I do the math. 1992 to 2008… that’s 16, right? All I can say is “WOW!” I had our anniversary all planned out. I was going to try to do some cleaning today then after he got off work I was going to take him out to China Garden… one of the first places we went when we were dating
Last night, fate decided to change my plans for me
Patrick took half a day off work yesterday to go to his dad’s with me for our Christmas celebration with them. We all had a great time of course and Renita cooked some amazing food as always! We do Christmas a bit different than we used to. Instead of everyone buying everyone something, we all buy the kids something then all the adults bring a gift for a Chinese Christmas type deal. After eating and eating, we let the kids open their gifts. After eating dessert (did I mention a lot of eating was done?
) the adults did our gift exchange. Gifts ranged from boxers with a Christmas light pattern to nails to hang things on the walls lol. There was even a 12-pack of Dr. Pepper that Patrick won.
As we were getting ready to leave, Patrick was handing Jeff a package from the porch. Jeff didn’t grab both sides of the gift bag and something fell out. Patrick started to step off the porch (only about 18 inches, not a very tall porch) and help Jeff pick things up. The ground was very soft because of all the rain we’ve had lately, so Patrick’s ankle twisted, we heard a loud pop… then his knee twisted and we heard another pop… and he fell on that knee.
I wanted to take him straight to the ER and have it checked out but he said he didn’t think anything was broken, that we’d ice it down and go from there. So last night I had to help him get undressed then this morning I had to help him get dressed. He could put his right sock on but not his left. Basically if he has to lift his left leg to put it on, he needs help
Still, he does not want to go to the doc for it.
So today, I realized I was never going to get anything at all done if I didn’t get him some crutches so I could stop being his crutch LOL! I also still wanted Chinese food, so I ran out to Walmart to get him some crutches and icy hot patches for his knee and called in an order at China Garden. So our anniversary dinner still happened, just at home instead of the restaurant and I got my husband crutches for our 16th anniversary

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!
Glad you found the tie and didn’t have to use duct tape. (that’s inside info people… no you didn’t miss part of the post. LOL) Hairy legs and duct tape do NOT work well together.
Thank you!
LOL duct tape!! Now that could have been very funny!
I told him that after 16 years it was too late to trade him in… figures… you know how it always seems to work, you get something paid for and it breaks!
